Despite playing well in periods of the match, an early goal in both the first and second half stifled our momentum. James Tavernier opened the scoring from the penalty spot inside five minutes, before Alfredo Morelos added a second early in the second half.
Speaking after the match Stevenson, who captained the The Hibees for the fifth consecutive game, in Paul Hanlon’s absence, shared his thoughts with HibsTV:
“It’s tough when you concede so early, but to be fair we dug in and limited their chances in the first half and we felt the crowd beginning to turn. We probably had the better chances in the first half to be honest.
“In the second half to lose the goal so early on was a nightmare, it was probably in the last 10 minutes that we really showed the way we can play with the ball.
“Little things aren’t going our way just now, we just need to roll our sleeves up, focus on the basics, get back to scoring goals and winning football matches."
Up next we face a trip to Arbroath in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. Stevenson underlined the importance of getting through in the Scottish Cup to give the Hibs fans something to cheer.
“The fans stuck with us all night, we just need to give them something to shout about. We just need to roll the sleeves up and get back to winning ways and things will start to turn.
“It is going to be a different game on Sunday, but equally hard for different reasons. I’ve seen them play a few times this season, they have a lot of good players who can score goals so we need to be on our best to win.
"There is a lot of hard work being put in, we have a proper fight on our hands at the moment and we just need to get back to winning games."
