Following the winter break being brought forward, kicking off on 27th December, the Hibs First Team had a full week off before returning to training in early January to prepare for an important second half of the season.
The Hibs midfielder gave us an update on how preparations have begun in 2022. He told us:
"It was good to refresh ourselves and have a little break, both physically and mentally. With all the games we had in December the lads needed it so was nice to have that time off.
“Were back training now which has been really good, the standards have been high and intense.
"Having two weeks without a game has meant we have had a good bit of time with the gaffer, which has given him a chance to implement his ideas and focus on how he wants us to play."

Since our 3-1 victory over Dundee United on Boxing Day, there have been several new faces arrive at HTC. Shaun Maloney has added young talents, Harry Clarke, Elias Melkerson, Ewan Henderson and Rocky Bushiri to his squad, with Chris Mueller and Dylan Tait also available for selection as the second half of the season approaches. Joe insists the new faces at the training ground have settled in well.
"The new boys have freshened things up here and given everyone a lift.
“They are all good players and have trained well so far and taken to the gaffers methods. It might take a bit of time for the new lads who haven’t experienced Scottish football before to get used to the new style of football and new environment so it is up to us to welcome them, make them feel at home and relaxed.
"We have got a really good group here so anyone who comes in is always welcomed and looked after."
Joe tells us that the new arrivals have added an element of competition for places which he feels is important for any successful team.
"We have a healthy squad here now so there is extra competition for places.
“You have to maintain your standards if you want to play in the team. It is always a good thing to have a strong squad and competition for places because it keeps everyone on their toes."
