Born in Manchester on 11 January 1997, Mitchell started his youth career with Fletcher Moss Rangers – the same side where Marcus Rashford began his career – before joining Manchester United in 2013.
Starting out as a winger, it was during the 2016/17 campaign, where he transitioned into becoming an attack-minded left-back.

At the end of that campaign, Mitchell was utilised in United’s First Team squad. He was among the substitutes in the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur before starting against Crystal Palace, as a full-back, in their final game of the season.
The following season he joined Hearts to get a regular taste of senior football and actually made his debut against Hibs at Tynecastle in the Scottish Cup; he picked up the man of the match award for his performance that day.
He scored his first senior goal against St Johnstone in February 2018 before a knee injury hampered his game-time.
In July 2018, he went on Manchester United’s pre-season tour, and signed a new deal, before returning to Hearts the following month. Again, he impressed before an injury cut his loan spell short.

After departing the Red Devils, he joined Blackpool in the summer of 2020 and made 39 appearances during his first campaign. Featuring at full-back, and on both wings, he played a vital role as they won promotion back to the second-tier of English football.
During the current 2021/22 campaign, Mitchell has made 14 appearances in all competitions.
Alongside his club football, he has also been capped by England’s U16s, U17s, U18s, and U20s. He won the UEFA European Championship in 2014 with the U17s and the Toulon Tournament in 2017 with the U20s.
