Both sides had to battle the elements in what was a challenging encounter from start to finish. Motherwell were reduced to 10 men with fifteen minutes to play but despite dominating large spells of possession, we were unable to find a crucial opening goal.
Speaking to HibsTV after the match, Chris Cadden shared his thoughts on the performance:
“We came here to get three points, we played well but we were lacking in the final third a wee bit. We’ve got to look at the positives, obviously no goals conceded and another clean sheet.
“It is a new system and a new way of playing, we dominated the ball. We are getting there but in terms of the result it is unfortunate.
“It was tough conditions out there, very windy but it was like that for both teams. We tried to get the ball down and play with it as much as we could and do what the Gaffer has set out to do.
“We just needed that final bit of quality in the final third to finish the game off. We know we have that quality up at that the top end of the pitch so we know that will come."
Since Maloney took over at Easter Road, Chris has played every minute under the new boss. He has slotted in at right-wing back, which has allowed him to play higher up the pitch and affect the game in both boxes - an opportunity which the 25-year-old is relishing.
“Ever since the Gaffer came in I have loved it. I am loving the position I’m playing in and the new system which I feel suits me and brings out my best attributes.
"I’m loving the run of games that I am getting at the moment and I'm just trying to take advantage of the opportunity each game.”
Up next, the Hibees host Livingston, before Hearts head to Easter Road for the second Edinburgh Derby of the season.
“We have a big run of games coming up, we all know how big the next few games are.
“We will rest up ahead of them, keep focusing on the good things we are doing and then we just need to work on that final bit of quality in the final third which I am sure will come.”
