Demetri was handed his first start for Hibs by Shaun Maloney this afternoon and he repaid the Manager’s faith with a goal inside the first six minutes.
“To score so soon into my Hibs career was really good for me personally, but ultimately the main thing was to get a result and we didn’t get that.”
Livingston equalised shortly after before Chris Cadden put Hibs back in front. However, David Martindale’s men fought back in the second half to pick up all three points.
Demetri told us how disappointed he was with the with overall result and in particular the second half performance.
“It was a game of two halves really. We played well in the first 45 and played some good attacking football. Second half was a different game, we conceded two goals from set-pieces and obviously lost the game which was very disappointing. We need to bounce back on Tuesday now.
“Two concede two goals from set-pieces was difficult to take. We had some good chances in the second half to get back into the game but we didn’t finish those off unfortunately.”
Our attention now turns to the Edinburgh Derby on Tuesday 1 February, a fixture which the twenty-five-year old sees as the perfect opportunity to bounce back in.
“I’m excited for the derby. I am buzzing to play in that fixture at Easter Road, I thrive under pressure and in these situations.
“On Tuesday, we need to make sure we continue those levels that we showed in the first half today. We need to keep playing positive football, trusting each other and keep buying into the managers and coaches messages which we are all doing on the training field and on the pitch.”
