Our Manager has played in fierce derbies before, coached on the world’s greatest stage, but tomorrow night will be something new for him as Hearts make the short trip across the city to Easter Road on Tuesday evening.
Speaking ahead of the game, Maloney explained how excited he is for his first taste of the fixture.
“I’m really looking forward to it. This is a huge game for us to try and put right what went wrong against Livingston.
“We want to give our fans a real performance that they can be really proud of.”
Easter Road is completely sold out for the Derby in what promises to be a special, raucous atmosphere on Tuesday evening.
“It's going to be incredibly intense. The fans will play a huge part and we have to give them something to get behind.
Hearts currently sit third in the cinch Premiership and Shaun Maloney is expecting a tough game.
“They can be very physical. They can go direct now that they have two strikers that are very good with the long ball. We know that if you give them time and space, they will play.
“We have to be very good in both parts and a lot better than what we were against Livingston.
“We have to play under the pressure. They're going to put intense pressure on us.
"We have to play through them, create chances and when we do, we need to be clinical in front of goal."
