Goals from Elie Youan, Elias Melkersen and Nohan Kenneh helped his Hibees run out convincing winners as they physically and tactically out-performed the English League One club.
Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk after the game, Johnson explained why he was so happy with the performance.
“I was pleased. The attitude was good, it’s super-hot here, so to demand that intensity, alongside the good application has made me happy, considering we’re only two weeks in.
“It was a good test for us. I know League One extremely well and Burton are a really organised, physical side and I felt like we dealt with that well. A couple of the questions marks I had ended up with ticks today.”
Johnson utilised almost every available squad member during both games – Hartlepool and Burton Albion – and now has big decisions to make ahead of our first competitive game of the season next weekend.
“You want headaches because inevitably it drives standards within the squad.
“It’s not about my headache – that’s what I’m paid to do – it’s about the guys pushing each other, being ready for the opportunity and having the clarity to be able to go and produce their best football.”
Hibs TV will have an exclusive sit down with Lee Johnson later this week.
