The Hibees host Clyde FC at Easter Road in the group stages of the Premier Sports Cup.
We spoke to Lee Johnson ahead of his first competitive match in charge of the Hibees.
Here are three key quotes from the Gaffer’s chat with Hibs TV.
First Impressions Count
Building an instant connection with Hibernian FC supporters from the very first whistle is a high priority for Lee Johnson. He said:
“To be honest I am just looking forward to meeting our fans and building that connection with them.
“I am excited for our supporters to see the work we have been doing in pre-season and we are going out there to produce a performance that gets us the win.
“The game tomorrow is a great opportunity to make a good first impression.”

Style Of Play
With competitive football returning so early in the calendar, Johnson highlighted the importance of winning these matches, whilst embedding his philosophies and style of play onto the players. He said:
“I am really looking forward to the game - I think it will be a good game and the boys are ready for it. We have had three weeks of hard work, trying to implement our principles of play.
“I hope we turn up sharp, on the front foot and we can put in a really positive performance.
“We go to win every game, there is no doubt about that. The balance I have to get is making sure we win the games, but also nurture the players so that we are peaking come that first league game of the season.”
Settling In
After joining in May, The Hibs boss had three weeks to get to know his current squad and has added seven new First Team signings to his side ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Now, the Manager is looking forward to competitive action returning as the season gets underway.
“I have loved meeting the staff and players at HTC. We enjoyed a really good tour in Portugal and the lads’ application has been top level.
“All the new staff have integrated well, so I am very pleased with the first month of my tenure here.
“I am now very much looking forward to the product – that is the boys playing good football on the pitch."
