The young left-back made his senior debut under David Gray last season and has been showing his ability for the Development Squad during this pre-season.

He performed admirably against Sheffield United as Ethan Laidlaw’s conversion from the spot was enough to see the Hibees over the line.

Controlling the left-hand side, with his continuous overlapping runs, Oscar was a constant threat going forward and strong defensively.

Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk after the match, Oscar said: “It was a really good game. We worked hard in the first half and pressed high in the second half; that allowed us to play with the ball even more and eventually get the winning goal.”

As the Development Squad look to implement elements of Lee Johnson’s style of play, Oscar was key in terms of his pressing and keeping the opposition under a lot of pressure.

The Wee Hibees have had to implement that style against a number of different teams, varying from youth academies like Sheffield United to non-league senior teams.

When discussing the pre-season schedule, the young left-back admitted how it’s benefitted his game.

“Pre-season’s gone really well. We’ve won every game so far, scored a lot of goals, and played against different types of teams, so hopefully it can carry on until the end of the season.

“I want to keep developing and eventually push on to the First Team. I’ll take all the opportunities as they come.”
