Johnson will join up with young Hibee Jack Brydon as the pair gain a regular taste of the men’s football in cinch League One.

This will be the American’s second loan spell away from Easter Road after joining the Hibees in January 2022.

The talented 19-year-old, who can play anywhere on the right-hand-side, impressed in the USL Championship with Charleston Battery earlier this year before being recalled.

Upon the approval of this work permit, he featured for Steve Kean’s Development Squad catching the eye in the match against Arsenal and competing well against some of the semi-professional players.

Alongside gaining regular minutes for Alan Maybury’s FC Edinburgh, EJ will continue to train with Kean at HTC and be available for certain Development Squad matches.

This loan is a further extension of the partnership between Hibernian FC and FC Edinburgh, which was launched earlier this month (July 2022).

On his loan move, Academy Director Steve Kean commented: “EJ has only just moved to the country and has really hit the ground running with us.

“He’s adapted really quickly to the style of football, and this loan move will help develop all parts of his game. He will continue to work on his technical ability with us in the Development Squad and will play in some really competitive games for FC Edinburgh.

“The combination of the two will accelerate his progression and will make him an even better young player.”

We wish EJ all the best with his loan spell.
