We had to play for over half an hour with ten men after Rocky Bushiri was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident.
Despite our numerical disadvantage, we carved out opportunities and could have taken three points home if we had taken our chances.
We have now only lost once in our last 23 outings against Dundee however a point this evening certainly suits Mark McGhee’s Dundee more so than ourselves.
Shaun Maloney made three changes to the side that drew with Celtic at the weekend. His squad has been stretched to its limits in recent weeks as injury and illness have decimated the team.
Matt Macey and Kevin Nisbet were the latest players to be added to the injury list and joined Paul McGinn, Harry Clarke, Paul Hanlon, Demetri Mitchell, Kyle Magennis, Joe Newell, Chris Mueller and James Scott on the sidelines.
Kevin Dabrowski made his third senior appearance and was joined in the starting XI by Ewan Henderson and Christian Doidge.
Lewis Stevenson once again led the lads out as the team took to the sodden Dens Park turf in our all-white away kit.
The opening moments of the game were very even with Chris Cadden looking lively again down the right-hand side.

The home side had the first sighting at goal from a corner kick - Paul McGowan’s cross found Jordan McGhee at the back post only for the defender to stab it wide of goal under pressure from Stevenson.
On 13 minutes a terrific turn from Henderson in the middle of the park created space for him to drive into, he surged forward before his eventual shot from the edge of the box was deflected wide of goal.
Max Anderson picked up the first caution of the evening for a late and high challenge on Josh Doig that left the youngster requiring some treatment.
Defensive numbers at both ends of the field severely limited any goal scoring opportunities in the first half, although we did finish the opening 45 minutes strongly.
Rocky had a rare sight of goal shortly before the interval only for his shot from the edge of the box to drift well off target with better options available to him.
Dundee goalkeeper Ian Lawlor was called into action for the first time to save a Cadden header following a pin-point Henderson corner kick.
In the final action of note before the interval, Cadden’s cross from the right found Drey Wright, who did well to get the ball under control, however his shot lacked the power or direction to test Lawlor as the goalkeeper gathered comfortably.
The second half was only a few minutes old when we were almost the architects of our own downfall as sloppy play in midfield was pounced upon by Charlie Adam who then stepped away from Jake Doyle-Hayes and Josh Campbell before curling an effort beyond Dabrowski and just wide of the far post.
At the other end we went close ourselves as Cadden ran onto Doyle-Hayes lay-off only to drag his angled drive wide of the far post with Lawlor beaten.
Then came a moment of controversy on 58 minutes as Rocky was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident.
Maloney responded by replacing Henderson with Sylvester Jasper and Stevenson moved inside to partner Ryan Porteous at the back.
Dundee meanwhile looked to take advantage of their numerical superiority and Niall McGinn had a go from distance. His effort was wild and off-target, much to the frustration of the home support.
With 15 minutes remaining we had a good opportunity to break the deadlock after Jasper won a corner kick as the ball dropped to Doig, but his snapshot was straight at Lawlor who gathered.

Elias Melkersen and Runar Hauge made their Hibernian FC debuts and looked lively in the closing stages.
It was Melkersen that found Jasper on the left and his fellow substitute tried to beat Lawlor at his near post only for the goalkeeper to get down smartly to save.
In the final moments, Jasper saw another effort from the edge of the box deflected wide of goal however we were unable to make anything of the corner kick and the match finished goalless.
