The Hibees make the trip to North Lanarkshire on Sunday for the 12.30pm kick-off with the game being broadcast live on the BBC.

After seeing off Cove Rangers and Arbroath, Maloney’s side are one game away from a third trip to Hampden Park this season.

Maloney gave his thoughts on the game, when speaking to Hibs TV:

“It's a big, big game for both teams. We are one game away from Hampden and when you get to Hampden, there's a real sense that you've got an opportunity to win the competition and that's what we're fighting for.

“It’s a very difficult place to go, Motherwell, and we found out last time where we played well in periods. It's going to be a big fight.

“There's always something that changes in the cup because the result is definitive on that day. Everyone's aware of that, but I think that mentality shift probably happens throughout the 90 minutes or longer. We prepare for every game to win it, no matter who it is against.”

The game ended goalless when Maloney’s Hibees visited Fir Park in late January, and our Manager expects something similar on Sunday.

“Motherwell are very set now on the way they are tactically. They’re very good and get the ball in the box.

“They've got good players; they've got a big counter-attack threat and we'll be well prepared. We have to stop them.

“What we didn't have in the first game and what we have to have is more of a threat in that final third. I think that'll be the difference between who wins this game.

The away end will be bouncing on Sunday with over 3,600 Hibs fans travelling, selling out the ticket allocation.

“It's amazing, really. The away support has been very good, and they’ve supported us even on difficult days. They should know that we don't undervalue that.

“I understand that the fans are putting in the work, but now it's up to us to repay that.”
