The return of the US international is a boost ahead of Sunday’s important clash as he’s recovered from the illness that kept him out of our last two games.
Alongside that there’s been a return to training for Joe Newell and Paul Hanlon, who have both been out for a considerable amount of time.
When speaking ahead of Motherwell, Maloney gave details on the trio’s availability.
“Chris Mueller will be available. I'm not sure how many minutes he can do. Obviously post illness, but I'm really glad to have him back.
“It's a little bit early for Paul Hanlon and Joe Newell. They were back training, but they've been out for a period of time, so I don't think they'll make this one, but they'll hopefully give us something against Aberdeen.”
There was also an update on Kevin Nisbet’s injury.
“Unfortunately, Kevin had surgery yesterday, although the surgery was positive, it was an ACL injury, so Kevin will be out for between seven and nine months.
“He's very motivated to make the World Cup, if, and hopefully, when the Scotland National Team qualify, he’s motivated to make that squad. We will support him every step of the way.”

Maloney went down to see Nisbet ahead of his surgery and explained how motivated the striker is to come back even stronger.
“He was OK. Look, it's a difficult time, but I think you could tell straight away that he is very motivated to come back a better player.
“Many players have had this injury and it's an opportunity now for Kevin to come back stronger.
“It's very tedious at start with these rehabs, but all that work will benefit him in the long run. He's definitely got the mindset that he is going to come back a better player.”
