Connor Young bagged a first half hat-trick, before goals from O'Connor, Aiken and Wylie in the second half sealed the victory for young Hibees.
Gareth Evans' side travelled up to the Regional Performance Centre in Dundee for the match with a strong squad, albeit without a couple of key players. Both Murray Johnson and Ethan Laidlaw were away on international duty with the Scotland U19s and U17s respectively.
That meant there was a first start for January signing, Tom Carter in between the sticks.
Connor Young opened the scoring after 24 minutes, his strike took a deflection off a tangerine jersey giving us the lead in Dundee.
If there was an element of luck about the first goal, there was no doubt about the second. Young the scorer again as he worked the ball onto his left foot before smashing the ball into the far corner leaving the United 'keeper no chance.
Young completed his first half hat-trick on the 38-minute mark. He latched onto a pass from Oscar MacIntyre before curling home from 25 yards.
Young turned provider in the second half. He was fouled by Petrie in the penalty and the referee showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Josh O'Connor made no mistake from the spot and it was 4-0 after an hour.
Murray Aiken added a fifth with a nice finish from inside the area before Freddie Wylie completed the rout with a long-range effort.
The win keeps Gareth Evans' side in second spot in the CAS U18 Elite Youth League with 42 points after 17 games. They trail Rangers U18 by just two points but have six games in hand on the Glasgow side.
The Wee Hibees will have the chance to overtake Rangers, if we beat them next Friday (8 April, 2022) in Glasgow.
