Following a 2-2 draw against Hamilton Academical last weekend, Dean Gibson’s side looked to get back to winning ways as they hosted Aberdeen Women for their final game at the Tony Macaroni Arena this season.
There were several turnovers during the opening 10 minutes as both sides looked to take control of the match. The first corner of the match fell to Hibs in the 11th minute which was swung in by Amy Gallacher. After a brief scramble inside Aberdeen’s box, the ball was cleared, and danger averted.
Hibs kept up the pressure as Colette Cavanagh curled an effort from outside the box in the 12th minute that struck the bar and came back into play. A let-off for Aberdeen.
Eilidh Adams opened the score for Hibs in the 16th minute with an excellent shot from just inside the box. The striker found space out on the left and worked her way into the box before curling the effort on her right foot and into the top corner beyond Aaliyah-Jay Meach.
Aberdeen responded well to going behind and found their equaliser in the 30th minute through Bayley Hutchison. Following a loose pass from Leah Eddie, Hutchison was able to take control of the ball and made a run down the wing. Aberdeen’s number 10 then took a shot from close range that went past Gabby English into the top corner to make it 1-1.
Following Aberdeen’s goal, the intensity of the match stepped up as both sides looked to take the lead. Aberdeen almost doubled their advantage as English was forced into making an excellent save from close range. A few moments later, Meach was forced into a save to deny Shannon McGregor’s effort from range.
Hibs regained the lead in the 39th minute through Adams. Following a corner, Aberdeen failed to clear their lines and Hibs gained control. Jenna Penman won the initial header and played it to Joelle Murray. The Hibs captain then volleyed it first time into the box where Adams was there to head it home from close range and give Hibs a 2-1 lead.
Adams’ second goal proved to be one of the final actions of the first half as Hibs went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Hibs made it 3-1 in the 53rd minute following an own goal from Kelly Forrest. Murray played a ball down the line where it was picked up by McGregor. Hibs’ number 10 then made a run down the wing before playing it into the box. Forrest got to it first but directed the ball into the back of her own net.
Michaela McAlonie made it 4-1 only five minutes later with an excellent one-versus-one finish. Eddie played a ball over the top where it was picked up by McAlonie who controlled it perfectly. The midfielder then ran beyond the defence and through on goal. After getting past the defence, McAlonie picked her spot and curled the ball passed Meach and into the back of the net.

Despite taking a 4-1 lead, Hibs did not take their foot off the gas as they looked to add to their tally. Adams had a couple of half-chances around the 70th minute but neither came to anything.
McAlonie came close to her second of the match in the 79th minute. After winning the ball from the Aberdeen defence, the midfielder tried her luck from range, however, her shot went just wide of Meach’s post.
Hibs once again came close to their fifth, this time in the 83rd minute after substitute Rosie Livingstone played Alexa Coyle through on goal. The striker controlled the ball perfectly after the pass but was unable to get her shot away due to an excellent challenge inside the box.
Following a dominant display, Hibs secured a 4-1 victory and picked up all three points against Aberdeen in their final game at the Tony Macaroni Arena this season.
