McGregor led the team out for our final cinch Premiership match of the season, making his first start for the Club since December 2021.

Paul McGinn opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, before James Scott ran riot in the second half bagging himself a hat-trick as we ran out 4-0 winners.

Speaking after the match, Daz told Hibs TV how proud he was captain the side.

"That is up there with one of the proudest moments of my Hibs career. I was very emotional thinking about it last night when Dave told me I would lead the team.

“To be honest it was actually quite difficult to control my emotions at the start of the game. To lead the team out in front of the fans of a team that I have supported all my life, with my kids next to me – it was a very special moment and one I will cherish for the rest of my life.

"One of the reason I have played for as long as I have is because I have wanted my kids to have the memory of their dad running out at Easter Road in that famous strip.

"My youngest is only two and a half so he might not remember it but my two eldest will have that memory and that means more to me than any other material things you could ever wish for."

This afternoon's result brings to end a disappointing campaign as we finish 8th in the cinch Premiership. Daz is hoping to use today's win as motivation going into next season.

“It has not been the greatest season, I will be the first one to admit that. We have been way below the standards that we set ourselves. It was good to end a poor season on a high note.

"Too many games we have been way below what the expectation is, so this performance is certainly a benchmark for next season.

“In terms of the game itself, we grew into the game the longer it went on, I thought we scored goals at pivotal and in general the four goals were long overdue.

"From a selfish point of view I was delighted to keep a clean sheet and then the lap of appreciation at the end, thanking the fans for their support this season, was the cherry on the cake."
