Earlier this year, Hibernian Women decided to take a stance against the devastating scenes in Ukraine. On March 20th 2022 in a match against Hearts Women at the Tony Macaroni Arena, Hibernian Women wore a special kit with the colours of the Ukrainian flag and wording 'We Stand Together' to show support for the people of Ukraine. At the match, fans were able to donate cash towards our Dnipro Kids Appeal through buckets that were passed around during the game. Those unable to attend the match were able to donate through our online Just Giving page.

After the match, the limited edition kits worn by the Hibernian Women players were auctioned and raffled off for fans to bid for.

In total, thanks to those who purchased a shirt, entered the raffle, donated at the game, or donated to our Just Giving page, we raised an incredible £8,110 for our Dnipro Kids Appeal.

Steven Carr from Dnipro Kids expressed his thanks to Hibernian Women for taking part in the fundraiser. “Dnipro Kids would like to give a huge thank you to Hibernian Women for auctioning off their limited edition shirts in aid of funds for the Dnipro Kids charity.

The football shirts looked amazing, so we really appreciate that they were willing to give them up to help fund the projects and excursions we have planned for the children while they are in Scotland.

"Thank you, and all the best for next season. GGTTH.”

Captain of Hibernian Women, Joelle Murray, expressed her gratitude to all those who participated in the fundraiser and to those who helped to arrange it. “We are delighted to be in a position to contribute to the Dnipro appeal via the power of football, the amount raised is extraordinary and we can't thank everyone who bid and donated enough. A special mention goes to Stewart McGuire whose idea it was, his creative thinking coupled with his passion to support this group of people is extremely admirable and it wouldn't have been possible without him."

We hope the money somewhat helps towards stabilising and supporting the kids throughout their stay in Scotland.
