“I don’t really know how I feel, obviously happy but to put it into words after that, it’s hard. We’ve been through a journey in the last two and a half years.”

“People have doubted us, doubted me personally, and the club at times. All we’ve done is ignore it and keep ticking away to get ourselves back in a position to get Hibs back into finals. It’s going to be a process for us to do it consistently, but we know when we go up against anyone, we’ve got a chance.”

“What we’ve shown against two teams at the top of the league, Rangers and (Glasgow) City is a team that can compete with anyone.”

With Rangers winning 4-0 against Spartans in the other semi-final, Gibson will face a rematch against a side who narrowly defeated his side the last time both teams went head-to-head.

“We want to be playing in finals, but it’s very rare that you go into finals thinking ‘We’re going to win this’. I see us playing Rangers as a 50/50. A lot of people won’t, but if we set up like we did at Meadowbank then we’ve got every chance of doing that. We’re excited to play them, and we’ll go at them with a game plan that we think will affect the game.”

With a squad full of characters and colourful dynamics, Gibson also went on record to say that this may not be the last time Hibs Women reach a major cup final under his tenure…

“For some, it’s going to be their first cup final at a senior level, but then people like Joelle and Shiv, who’ve been here for a long time, who’ve been used to success, have taken a hit for a couple years – and we’re now back.”

“We’ve had a few players come in this season, and I’ve been saying we’ve got a very good squad here. I don’t think this will be the last final we reach in the next few years.”

“It’s hard to speak right now, but I’m just over the moon for the players who’ve stuck by the club and who’ve trusted the process. We’ve had tears, we’ve had anger along the way – but we’ll fully enjoy the day when the final comes.”
