The Hibees were beaten 1-0 by Kilmarnock with Daniel Armstrong’s second-half penalty the difference between the sides.

Despite creating several opportunities, we are unable to take any of them and came away with nothing from the game.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Lee Johnson gave his thoughts on the performance.

“We are all disappointed, we lacked quality in the final action and in the final third again today. We had numerous opportunities in the second half. I don’t think Marsh had a save to make, to be honest, other than the penalty.

"VAR has got us twice, Melkersen was offside by a kneecap or so and the penalty decision didn’t go our way.

“We had numerous chances, but the ball just didn’t settle for us. We were desperate to finish those off but we just couldn’t do it today.

“It was really tough to take, the losses we’ve had recently have been disappointing and there have been too many missed opportunities.”

Mykola had a goal ruled out for offside and both Elias Melkersen and Harry McKirdy had opportunities as we pushed for an equaliser in the second half.

“We just need that bit of luck, we’ve had enough opportunities today to win the game. I thought, Harry McKirdy was a bright spark when he came on and he added enthusiasm.

"We need to take our opportunities when they come along, it’s as simple as that. Today we didn’t take our chances and it’s cost us the game.”

The cinch Premiership will now pause for the Winter World Cup break, with the action resuming on Thursday 15 December.

Johnson is hopeful to use the break as a chance to rebuild the confidence of his side and bring back a few key players from injury.

“The names coming back is a big thing for us. We do have some real quality to come back into the squad - the likes of Boyle, Nisbet, Mckirdy, Magennis, McGeady and Jake Doyle-Hayes are important players for us and we need to get them up to speed.

“The break will give us an opportunity to do this, we’ve got some tough games coming up, but I honestly think we will come out of the break stronger.”
