Steve Archibald

Steve was a top-tier talent in his playing days, who was deservingly elected into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 2009. While he is fondly recalled for his exploits with Aberdeen and Tottenham, he made a memorable impact in his short stint at Hibernian after signing from Barcelona.

A fans’ favourite across two years in Leith, Steve scored 18 times in 53 appearances – notably notching the winning goal in a 2-1 away triumph at Tynecastle in November 1988.

Laura Kennedy

Laura made history when she became the first woman to be inducted into the Hibernian Hall of Fame in 2022.

Laura was a member of the original Hibernian Ladies squad after they changed their name from Preston Athletic in 1999. Kennedy starred for Hibernian where she won three League Championships, five Scottish Cups, three League Cups and featured in Champions League competition on three occasions.

She retired from playing in November 2019 at the age of 29 as the most decorated Hibernian player ever.

Pat Stanton

Finally, we are delighted to announce that Pat Stanton will play a part in The Match and kick off proceedings on Sunday.

The 78-year-old has had a long association with the Club from standing in the terraces as a supporter, to pulling on the famous green jersey, and to leading them out as the Club’s Manager. Pat has done it all.

Pat made over 400 appearances for Hibs and Captained the Club to our first major cup win in 70 years – winning the Scottish League Cup in 1972.

Ahead of Sunday’s match, Hanlon Stevenson Foundation chairman Graeme Cadger commented: “We’re honoured to have Steve, Laura and Pat confirmed for the Match on Sunday.

“Steve was a player of real class and a fans favourite at Easter Road and it is great to have him back in attendance and supporting the charity.

“To have Hibs legends and Hall of Famers Pat Stanton and Laura Kennedy involved as well is massive and we are sure all three will get a great reception!”

Squad Update

Unfortunately, in an effort to improve his fitness, Tam McManus has damaged his calf and is unable to play. However, Simon Murray has confirmed he is available and will feature on Sunday!

Former Hibs ‘keepers Conrad Logan, Graham Stack and Nick Colgan were all contacted but unfortunately, they are all unavailable and passed on their apologies.

Hibs Dev Squad and Academy goalkeepers Freddie Owens and Tom Carter will both play in the match alongside HSF Scholarship inductee Malek Zaid and Josh O’Connor will link up with his father Garry on the pitch for the charity match!

The HSF would like to thank Academy Director Steve Kean and Gareth Evans for their cooperation and for allowing a selection of the Hibs Dev Squad and Academy players to take part in The Match!
