The 100-strong group had its first official meeting in March and has gone on to form a close relationship with the Football Club.

Hibees Pride has also been recognised for a number of accomplishments during its first seven months and continues to work with Hibernian FC to make Easter Road a welcoming place for all football fans.

In such a short space of time, the group has already seen one of its members, Julie Cuthbertson, appear on national radio to discuss the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community in sport, challenged homophobic chanting in the Scottish game, had another member, Lauren McCran, involved with the Club’s 2022/23 home kit launch and had a huge presence at the Edinburgh Pride festival in the summer.

So far, Hibees Pride has:

  • Established the group’s aims and ambitions
  • Had a strong visible presence at Edinburgh Pride festival
  • Strongly challenged homophobic chanting at our fixture against Falkirk
  • Had a member take part in the launch of the 2022/23 home kit
  • Had a member participate in a national radio discussion on LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport
  • Been part of the SFA and LEAP Sports' Football v Homophobia steering group
  • Selected a name and identity, including a logo and branding
  • Been part of shaping activations around the Club
  • Started its own social media channels

Members of the group meet at Easter Road Stadium on the last Monday of every month, with anyone welcome to come along and join in the discussion.
