‘It was a fight. It was a battle. I think we won it.’

‘We were rightly ahead at half-time. In the second half we lose a sloppy goal, but I’m proud of the girls. We’ve got a fight and aggression to us, and there’s a real togetherness to this group now. I think we saw that with the Rangers game, and that came into tonight.’

‘It was never going to be a game of football tonight; it was always going to be missing the midfield out and going back to front. We got our reward through a set play, but you only get set plays if you’re in the opposition’s half. ‘

‘In my opinion, it’s a fully deserved three points, and one we’ll take confidence from.’

After an energetic first-half performance, where his side were given numerous chances to go in front, Gibson was delighted to see his side take the lead seconds before half-time.

‘I think we had too. It was a great time to score the goal, but the frustrating thing was we probably should have been at least a couple up.’

‘Again, the girls kept going and going. It’s something that’s instilled in them now. I to them it has to be in their DNA, they have to be aggressive, we have to play on the front foot, and we have to just keep going. Eventually we will get the rewards.’

As proud as he was to see the team performing well, Gibson was also happy to sing the praises of individuals like Ellis Notley and her midfield partners.

‘In my opinion, player of the match by quite a distance. She covered for her teammates and got us up the pitch. She won headers and second balls. Her, Shannon McGregor, and Micky have been outstanding throughout the season. We’ve controlled so many games and a lot of that has been down to them. Ellis today was unbelievable. I’m really pleased for her.’

Heading into Sunday’s match against Kilmarnock, Gibson has insisted that his side need to turn up and put in another great performance as they face a challenging Cup tie.

‘It’s our biggest game of the season. We’re not going into that just playing a team a division below us, we’re taking it seriously. We know that if we don’t turn up Kilmarnock are going to be up for this game, it’s going to be their cup final. You only get once chance at the cup, so we’ll be going into that full of confidence.’
