The Saints struck twice in the final 20 minutes of the match to turn the result on its head after Mykola Kuharevich opened the scoring for the Hibees.
Kyle Magennis was sent off for two yellow cards in the second half which proved to be a key turning point in the match.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Marijan Čabraja admitted the red card changed the game.
“In the first half we controlled the game, we were aggressive and played with an attacking mentality. But the red card changed things and we made a couple of little mistakes and got punished for it.
“Mentally it is difficult when you concede straight after going down to 10. To concede to go quickly after losing a man is extremely frustrating.
"Then, the last thing you want to happen is to lose the game. Unfortunately, that is what happened tonight."

The Hibees had chances at 1-0 to increase their lead, but ultimately we couldn’t see out the game and St Johnstone took their chances at crucial moments in the game.
“We were very close to going two nil up but we didn’t kill the game. Our concentration slipped and we didn’t finish the game.
"When you are winning 1-0, we felt comfortable but as I said before if hadn’t received the red card I thought we would’ve gone on to win.”
