The Hibees dominated the proceedings after Derek McInnes’ side were reduced to 10-men and took the lead early on through a strike from Joe Newell.

Chances continued to fall but McAllister’s men weren’t able to add to their tally.

After the game, our Assistant Manager provided his thoughts to Hibs TV.

“We have to take the positives; great three points, good win, unbeaten at home, and a clean sheet.

“We need to work on that clinical nature. It’s hard against 10-men, they sat in and made it difficult for us in the low block.

“We didn’t move the ball quick enough or switch it quick enough to penetrate. When we got in areas in the final third, we didn’t execute the chance or make the right decision.

“If we had that little bit of quality and get that second goal, then it puts the game to bed. It’s something we can work on.

“I’m sure the gaffer was very animated too, so I hope he didn’t pop any stitches!”

The build-up to the early red card was particularly pleasing for the coaching staff, alongside grabbing a quick goal after the opposition went down to 10.

“It was important because we worked on that kind of move in the week; getting that penetration, those runs in-behind, and playing forward.

“It was a great ball by Porto and run and touch by Boyley, which draws the foul and the red card.

“We scored from the resulting free-kick, so it was nice to get that early goal for a change and put us in the driving seat against the 10-men.”

Back to winning ways, the Hibees will be looking to carry some momentum to Dundee United next week.

“It gives us a platform to build on. We’ll go into next week with confidence, have a good training week and evaluate what we could’ve done better.”
