‘I think we deserved to win the game. In the first half we were excellent. In the second, we were good’

‘Yet again though, two goals from two set plays have killed us. The second one is a bit frustrating because we had possession of the ball and we’ve given a free kick away, which has given them the chance to score the goal.’

In my opinion, we deserved to win the game. We’ve scored two, had one saved off the line, Poppy’s also had a good shot as well as Eilidh Adams having a couple of good half chances in the box.’

Having started the first half as the more dominant side, and the more likely to score, it was frustrating for the manager to see his side concede.

‘It was against the run of play. They get one corner then they score. The good thing is though that we kept going. We get an equalizer before half time and gave ourselves a good chance in the second half.’

‘We weren’t as good in the second half, but we were good enough, and then we go ahead. When that happens, we should probably be a bit more streetwise to what we’re doing.’

Our first goal, the equalizer, came through Nor Mustafa, whose goal was her first for the club.

‘Nor’s worked hard, and she’s got her rewards for that. She’s not a selfish player so if she knows it’s not on her to shoot, she will pass it. Overall, I’m delighted for her.’

The manager also gave an update on Ava Kuyken and Liana Hinds, who were forced off with injuries in the match. Both will seek medical attention this week and be assessed ahead of Sunday's SWPL cup action.

‘Ava’s injury is probably slightly worse than Liana’s. She’s tried to turn which maybe means a tear or a pulled calf. Liana’s is more impact, so she’s probably more fortunate.

Up next for Gibson’s side is an SWPL Cup tie against Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park.

‘We’ve always had a good relationship with the cups and it’s one we want to continue. We know, bar the first game of the season, we’ve controlled most games. At some point we will begin to win these, and we will be an effective side. Hopefully that begins to turn next week.’
