THE LOWDOWN

Hibs Women kick off their League Cup campaign this Sunday with a match against Hamilton Academical (Kick-off 16:00) at New Douglas Park.

The Hibees have enjoyed great success in the League Cup over the years and will be looking to make the perfect start to this season’s competition with a victory over the Accies.

Last season, Hibs Women made it to the semi-final of the League Cup where they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Celtic – the current holders of the trophy.

Dean Gibson’s side were most recently in action last Sunday where they drew 2-2 with Spartans in a tightly fought contest.

THE OPPOSITION

Hibs Women and Hamilton have already met once this season, on August 14th, where Hibs secured an emphatic 4-0 victory thanks to a hat-trick from Crystal Thomas and a goal from Eilidh Adams.

Hamilton are currently 6th in the SWPL 1 table, with two wins and four losses from their opening six matches.

A player to watch is Kirstie McIntosh who won Player of the Match during Hamilton’s recent fixture against Dundee United.

TEAM NEWS

During last weekend’s clash with Spartans, both Aya Kuyken and Liana Hinds picked up injuries and will therefore be doubts to face Hamilton on Sunday.

The latest team news will be provided in full on Friday afternoon when the Dean Gibson speaks to the media.
