The midfielder hasn’t featured for just over a year after suffering a series of injury setbacks.

Now, leading up to our cinch Premiership game against Ross County, we could see his return!

“Kyle Magennis is close,” admitted Lee Johnson. “He’s had five weeks of consist training and three behind-closed-doors games, so we’ve got minutes into him.

“You can see the sharpness coming week on week, so whether that’s from the start to be withdrawn or to come on as an impact sub, I think he could be very, very close.

“It’s a challenge to break in too though, not only to start but the subs have to hold their place. You want that competition and the feeling that if they don’t perform, then the next man will step in.

“If you’re doing well, then it means it’s difficult for someone to break in and get the shirt.”

Alongside Kyle, Lee Johnson was able to welcome Rocky Bushiri, Aiden McGeady, Demetri Mitchell, Elias Melkersen and Kevin Nisbet to team training. He gave an update on them.

“When we saw their faces in the warm-up today, the concentration and quality, it was really good and lovely to see. Actually, I think it gave us all a boost to be honest.

“Obviously, everyone is at different stages because a warm-up and a passing drill doesn’t mean they’re ready to play. At the same time, it shows progression.

“We have a strong squad, and we just have to get the boys up to their maximum as quickly as possible without risking any setbacks.”

The only one on top of the known injury list that may be unavailable is Jake Doyle-Hayes.

“Jake is 50/50. He had a knock off the back of a chronic injury he’s had for a period of time.

“We’re going to have a chat with him, give him a bit of rest, and then potentially book him in with a specialist on Monday.”
