Report: Rangers 3-1 Hibs U18s
Academy
7 April 23
Two goals in the first half and one in the second condemned the youngsters to defeat at the Rangers Training Centre, with Ethan Laidlaw grabbing a late consolation goal.
It was a close contest for the opening half an hour before Rangers took the lead after 34 minutes. The Gers made the most of a Hibs mistake, swung a deep cross into the box and scored at the back post.
That lead was doubled just five minutes later. Another ball from the right hand-side caused our Wee Hibees trouble, with the ball bouncing around the box, before Rangers scored.
It was a fairly quiet start to the second period with the Hibees trying to get back into the game, however, a ruthless counter from the hosts made it three. They broke three vs three before placing the ball into the back of the net.
Shortly after, Hibs were reduced to 10 men as Jacob MacIntyre received his second yellow card of the match.
In the dying moments of the game, Ethan Laidlaw scored a consolation goal for the youngsters. The Wee Hibees broke quickly from a Rangers corner before a long ball was played over the top for Laidlaw. The Scotland U18 international latched onto it, cut inside and expertly finished.
Our Wee Hibees were beaten 3-1 at Rangers, but will look to respond next Friday when they travel to Hamilton.
