Stevenson’s strike cancelled out Stevie May’s early opener as Hibs played out a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone in Perth.

That result meant we secured our place in the top six with plenty to play for between now and the end of the season.

Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk, Stevenson shared his thoughts on the performance.

“We had a job to do today and we’ve managed to cross the line. We keep our momentum going, we had an amazing result last week – a decent point here today and you never know that could be a big point come the end of the season.

“Look, it wasn’t the best of games, we didn’t start well but we managed to get ourselves back into it. I thought we got a foothold in the game and we looked like the better team before the sending-off. After that, it was backs-to-the-wall stuff in tough conditions for both teams.

“It was tough out there, even controlling the ball and clearing it was difficult in the wind and on dry ground.

"Marsh made some unbelievable saves, Paul and Will Fish did some great defending that probably goes unnoticed at times. We did the job today, but we have a lot to improve on.”

Making his 571st appearance for the Club, Lewy marked his 500th start with an important goal – his first since July 2018.

“I’m delighted to get up to double figures,” Lewy laughed.

“It was a decent touch and finish I thought and it came at a good time in the game. You need to make the most of these goals when they come around.

“I am still as awkward as ever celebrating. It was hard because the fans were all in three different stands so I didn’t know where to run. I ended up just running to Paul and I think I punched him in the face by accident."

The result lifts us up to fifth in the cinch Premiership – four points behind Hearts and six off Aberdeen with five games to go.

“We had unbelievable support again today – I think it was 3,500 Hibs fans here today. Hopefully, we can keep that bond going, keep the momentum going and kick on from now and the end of the season.

“We’ve got five cup finals to look forward to – every game will be huge for us between now and the end of the season. We will give it everything we’ve got, we showed glimpses of class last week against Hearts and we defended well again today but we need to be better with the ball.”
