Hibs would defend competently for the majority of the game, but some loose midfield passing would see them produce few opportunities.
There were two changes the side that drew with Hearts in the Edinburgh Derby, as Liana Hinds and Shannon Leishman replaced Joelle Murray – who started on the bench, and Ava Kuyken who missed through injury.
With Fran Alonso's team sitting in 2nd in the Parks Motor Group SWPL, Celtic would have the majority of the ball in the opening stages. They would find it difficult to break through the middle, thanks to resolute defending by Hunter and Notley.
This would continue, as a fantastic sliding interception by a retreating Leishman would deny Celtic a brilliant opportunity to open the scoring. The resulting corner would be headed away to safety.
Despite defending well, Celtic would eventually open the scoring after Amy Gallacher fired in a long-range effort into the top corner after 19 minutes.
Looking to bounce back; from the back, Nunn would connect with Haaland's goal kick, producing a great solo run down the left side. Beating a couple of players before crossing into the area. Lockwood would connect and see her effort from the edge of the box go narrowly wide of the post.
With 40 minutes gone, Celtic would continue to see much of the ball down their right channel but would fail to produce further clear-cut opportunities. With Hibs looking to counter down the left, thanks to some great defending by Leishman – there would be nobody in the middle to meet her pass.
As open play produced little of note for either side, Celtic would grab their second goal through a set piece. Amy Gallacher would swing in a corner, as Chloe Craig waited at the back post to tap home a close-range header.
Advancing immediately from kick-off towards the Celtic end, Hibs would have successive attempts cleared after crosses into the area would fail to be picked up by either Adams or Lockwood in the middle.
Seconds after the restart, a mix-up between Benni Haaland and Leah Eddie would see Natasha Flint capitalise on a loose pass and tap an effort into the net from close range.
Looking to find a way back into the game, another great burst of pace by Brooke Nunn would produce another good run down the right; her cross would come too early however, as no Hibs player would be near the area to meet.
With an hour played, Hibs would slowly come into the game, but some slow movement would break down some nice passing play in the midfield areas.
As Celtic continued to drive forward and surround the Hibs area - Hibs would continue to hit on the counter. Leishman’s low drive into the middle would find Lockwood, but the attacker’s effort would go behind for a corner.
Lia Tweedie would subsequently come on to make her 100th Hibs appearance, replacing Eilidh Adams. Looking to mark the occasion with an immediate impact she connected with Eddie’s corner at the back post, but her header would rise narrowly over the bar.
She would also look to find a late consolation. Making a great interception to regain possession in an advanced area, the ball would find its way to Liana Hinds on the right. Her subsequent cross would again fail to be picked up by a Hibs player.
This would lead to some late momentum, as the travelling support rallied behind the team.
Despite this, there would be little other action, as Hibs would fall to defeat in Airdrie.
