The Hibees come into this one off the back of a positive run of form, winning their last three cinch Premiership fixtures, and only losing one league game since the appointment of Montgomery in early September.

Now, though, they will travel to Parkhead to take on Celtic, who have an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

It’s going to be a difficult challenge,” admitted Montgomery. “They’re the best team in the competition in my eyes and that’s what the table suggests too.

“It’s going to be a tough ask, but we go there full of confidence off the back of a run of good results and some good performance.

“We’re under no illusions that it’ll be difficult, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Our last victory at Celtic Park came back in January 2010 with Danny Galbraith's stoppage-time strike sealing the points for the Hibees.

“13 years tell you how hard it is to go there and get a win or some kind of result, but we don’t look at the past,” said our Head Coach.

“All I can do is set the team up and give them the confidence to get a result.

“The players aren’t daft they know they will have to work super hard and be disciplined because they’ve got a very good team with a lot of quality. We have quality as well but will have to put in a good performance.”

In Montgomery’s first game against the Hoops, his players did exactly that, they were disciplined and worked incredibly hard for the team. Those efforts resulted in a 0-0 draw at Easter Road, and our Head Coach believes the players can take a lot out of that game.

“We’re one of the only teams in a long time to keep them goalless in the league which tells you the attacking quality they have in the final third.

"The way we defended and the discipline we showed that day was what we worked on in training and demanded. That gives the boys the belief we can go up against any team, and if we defend properly then we can limit opportunities.

"We also know we have attacking players that can hurt anyone. We will stick to the game plan knowing it’ll be a tough task.”

Montgomery’s squad has also been bolstered ahead of this one with potentially two full-backs returning.

“We didn’t want to risk Jordan (Obita) on the weekend. He has a chance, but we will make that decision tomorrow.

“Lewis Miller comes back in after his suspension, and I’ll give Rory (Whittaker) a rest as he’s a 16-year-old kid who played 90-95 minutes against Aberdeen at the weekend.

"He’s just about recovered but what an occasion for him. Lewis knows that he has Rory breathing down his neck because we were really impressed with him.”
