Saturday will be a third consecutive away game for the Hibees, with the game at McDiarmid Park kicking off at 3pm.

There are over 1,200 Hibs fans expected to travel, and Nick Montgomery was full of praise for each and every one of them.

“I can’t thank the supporters enough. Most weeks I mention the fans and the support they give us away from home. Their support doesn’t go unnoticed.

“We know it’s not easy and it’s expensive this time of year, but that’s why we hope we can put in the effort and performances to repay them for their faith.

“We massively appreciate them and hope we can give another good account of ourselves this weekend. I’m looking forward to hearing them this weekend.”

We come into this one off the back of a win against Livingston and face a St Johnstone side that have been revitalised following the appointment of Craig Levein.

They have lost two out of six games under him, winning three and lifting themselves away from the danger zone.

“We’re looking forward to the game,” admitted Montgomery. “We’ve had a week to recover a few of the boys and work on what we want to implement this weekend. St Johnstone are on a decent run of performances since Craig came in, so we expect a tough game.

“They’ve got some good players, they’re well-disciplined and well organised. Look it’s the same players but as always a new manager will come in and implement his ideas, and get the players buy-in. You can see they’ve bought into Craig, the effort is there and they’re a physical, well organised team. We expect a tough battle this weekend.”

Hibs will be without Joe Newell on Saturday as he serves a one-match suspension, but our Head Coach confirmed that Jimmy Jeggo will come in to replace him.

“Joe’s been outstanding, has captained us on occasion and has taken a few big knocks as well. He was struggling a little bit. The suspension has given us time to give him a rest and refresh him because he’s a really important member of the team.

“Jimmy Jeggo has been champing at the bit and has been unfortunate not to be in the team because of his performances when I first came in, until he got that little injury, then Dylan Levitt came in with Joe and we had some good results.

“Jimmy has been patient, he’s a real team player, he’s reliable and has made an impact when coming on. It’s a smooth transition in him replacing Joe. It’s a good opportunity for him and Dylan to work on the partnership they’ve been building in training.”
