The Hibees travel to Fir Park for a 1:30pm kick-off this Sunday (8 January, 2023) as we look to get back to winning ways in the cinch Premiership.

Lee Johnson’s side will be hoping to bounce back quickly following the defeat to Hearts in the Edinburgh Derby earlier this week.

The Hibees currently sit eighth in the league table with 23 points – three points behind fourth-placed Aberdeen and four ahead of our next opponents, Motherwell.

TEAM NEWS

There are no fresh injury concerns following the Edinburgh Derby, but it is likely that the Hibees will be without both Jake Doyle-Hayes and Lewis Miller who are both recovering from injury. Mykola Kuharevich will be assessed ahead of the tie whilst Martin Boyle remains a longer-term absentee.

Lee Johnson will provide the latest squad update when he meets the media on Friday.

THE HOSTS

Motherwell currently sit tenth in the cinch Premiership.

The Steelmen come into this one struggling for form having picked up three points (three draws) from their last six league matches.

Steven Hammell’s side are looking for their first league win at Fir Park since August 2022.

HEAD TO HEAD

Our recent record against Motherwell has been positive – we are unbeaten in our last six meetings with The Steelmen and have not lost at Fir Park since 2019.

The two teams have met once this season already – that one ended in a 1-0 victory for the Hibees with Ryan Porteous grabbing the only goal of the game at Easter Road back in October.

Our last away day at Motherwell was a memorable one with Elias Melkersen scoring twice on his first start for the Club in a 2-1 win in the Scottish Cup Quarter Final.
