THE LOWDOWN

Following last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Motherwell at K-Park, Hibs Women return to Meadowbank on Sunday where they will host Spartans (kick-off 11:30) in SWPL 1 action.

The victory over Motherwell was the Hibees’ third win in a row and also saw recent signing Katie Lockwood score her first goal for the club.

Hibs Women sit in 5th place in the SWPL 1 on 21 points – five points off Hearts Women in 4th. A win on Sunday could be crucial for Dean Gibson’s side as they look to break into the top four.

THE OPPOSITION

Sunday’s clash will be the third time that Spartans and Hibs Women will play each other this season. Most recently, they met in the Scottish Women’s Cup on January 8th where the Hibees won 3-0 to advance to the next round. Prior to that, the two sides played out a 2-2 draw on September 25th at Ainslie Park in the SWPL 1.

Spartans currently sit 8th in the SWPL 1 table on 13 points. A win on Sunday could see Debbi McCulloch’s side move up to 7th, however, if other results go their way.

The Edinburgh outfit are currently in a bit of a sticky patch and have not won a league match since November 27th when they defeated Glasgow Girls, making Sunday’s clash very important.

KEEPING UP WITH THE ACTION
