Lia Tweedie has gained beneficial game time while featuring for Craig Joyce’s side in SWPL 2 and has performed admirably for ‘The Spiders’ who currently sit fourth in the league table.
Tweedie started playing for Hibs Girls Academy at the age of just 11. She then was provided with the opportunity at first team level to make her debut aged 16. Throughout her time at the club, Lia scored some vital goals to lead the Hibees to victory. While on loan, Tweedie has continued to train with Dean Gibson’s side on a full-time basis. She is now ready to kick on and impress after signing a new deal that will see her remain at the club until 2025.
Lia commented on her return saying “I’m looking forward to being involved on match days again with this talented group. I really enjoyed my loan spell, getting match fit and building confidence. I’m grateful to Queen’s Park for facilitating that for me, they were a fantastic bunch who I’m sure we will see more often next season."
"Luckily, during the loan spell I was still able to train full-time with Hibs, which was really beneficial, and I feel like I return with solid relationships with the girls, both on and off the park. I'm hopeful that I can contribute to the success we strive for in the next half of the season. I’m ready for the challenge and so excited to be back in green and white.”

Dean Gibson commented on Lia’s return: “Firstly, a massive thank you to Craig Joyce and everyone at Queen’s Park for providing Lia with valuable game time.”
“It’s good to have Lia back available to us. The message with Lia was - go and play games and when you feel you’re ready to come back and fight for a place in the team, let me know. Lia has chosen now as that time, so we are getting back a player that’s match fit and hungry to succeed. The squad size is healthy, so the challenge is there to get back into the matchday squad consistently, and then secure a place in the starting eleven. We pick players based on form, so everyone knows they need to be at the top of their game weekly - Lia now adds to that competition.”
Tweedie is available for selection in tomorrow’s SWPL clash with Spartans.
