The Andorran side took a two goal lead before Joe Newell scored a vital last-gasp goal, meaning it’s all to play for in the second leg at Easter Road.

When speaking to Hibs TV after the game, Johnson explained his frustration.

The first half performance was really poor. We didn’t acclimatise well enough. We didn’t perform well enough at an individual level, and we didn’t perform well enough at a team level. You have to give them credit and respect.

“The second half we made changes, were much more on the front foot, and we had shots, crosses, corners, set plays, and a lot of partial success. We wanted to get the equaliser and the second goal against us was a sucker punch. It made it really tough.

“The goal at the end was a really, really important goal for us. It’s a very different game at home with our fans behind us knowing what we’ve got to do. It’s a big wide pitch and we have to be much better than we were today.

“What we’ve done is given them something to hold on to, so we have to be extra vigilant to make sure we’re on the front foot. We need everyone to do that. I understand there’s negativity from today’s game and we have to learn lessons as a group from that.

“This tie is very much still there for us, and everything is to play for. We’re at half-time. I’m disappointed but not discouraged about going through in the tie.”
