Our media and content team picked some of their best moments over the course of the 2022/23 campaign. Here is what they came up with!
Hibs 1-0 Hearts (15 April, 2023)
Mathew Newton, Head of Digital & Content: “My favourite game of the season is an obvious one – the Edinburgh Derby victory at Easter Road! The atmosphere at that game was the best I’ve experienced while working at Hibs, especially hearing Sunshine On Leith for the first time after a big win.

"My friends were visiting Edinburgh that weekend and came along to the game. Afterwards, we had a photo together on the pitch before heading to The Albion Bar and then Robbie’s on Leith Walk, which was packed with Hibs fans singing songs until late. I had to convince my friends that every matchday wasn’t quite as good as that!”
Hibs 1-1 Hearts (7 August, 2022)
Richard Payne, Hibernian Writer: “My most memorable moment wasn’t a win but a last-gasp equaliser in the first Edinburgh Derby of the season. Arriving at Easter Road, I overhead the Hearts commentary team discussing not if they would win, but by how many. I was unaware that Martin Boyle had been registered in time to play and it was a massive surprise when the teamsheets arrived.
“Squirrel’s return had come out of the blue and even he didn’t expect to play as he tucked into some macaroni and chips the night before. A call from the Club told him his clearance was through quicker than expected and the winger was soon off to Asda for water and a strawberry Yazoo chaser before providing a delicious last-gasp leveller in the 95th minute. It was a stunning Roy of the Rovers-style return and the bedlam that followed it made the match report re-write worth it!”

Hibs 6-0 Aberdeen (28 January 2023)
Adam Tomlinson, Head of Communications: “There were a few to choose from but I’ve gone for the 6-0 win against Aberdeen at Easter Road or ‘El Sackio’ as it was dubbed by the Scottish media.
“From my perspective, there was a huge amount of pressure on this one as it arguably carried greater media attention than previous visits of the Old Firm or our local rivals.
"The game itself couldn’t have been much better and it was great to see Josh Campbell – a local lad – bag a hat-trick. Then, of course, there was that iconic image of Jim Goodwin leaving the ground over the LED advertising boards. After our fun social media post…”

Hibs 4-2 Celtic (24 May 2023)
Cameron Allan, Club Photographer: “It was one of those occasions in football where the stars seem to align and everything goes your way. The penalty, the red card, our overturned red card, Scott Bain’s assists…
“I went to that game with hope, rather than expectation; I’d have absolutely settled for a point pre-match and going in 1-0 down at half time I’d have bitten your hand off for a share of the spoils. Us Hibees know it’s not too often we come from behind against Celtic, so to see us do it twice, with such swagger, you just got the feeling something special was in the offing.
"Watching from just a few yards away as first Elie, then Paul’s goals worked their way into the net, I felt like we could have beaten absolutely anyone brave enough to face us that night."

Hibs 2-2 Rangers (20 August 2022)
Cliff Pike, Hibs TV Commentator: “There were certainly a few games during the season where my voicebox almost blew, the recent wins against Hearts and Celtic at Easter Road amongst them. However, the 2-2 draw against Rangers right at the start of the league campaign was a particularly enjoyable game to commentate on, simply because we were so deep into injury time and almost down and out when our “Young Player of the Year” Josh Campbell, unleashed his “Goal of the Season"-winning equaliser on us.

“Cue absolute bedlam in the stadium and in the Hibs TV commentary box! Kevin Harper, who was on co-commentary with me that day roared louder than Guillaume Beuzelin used to do at a Hibs goal and believe me, that isn’t easy! Although it was only one point that we took that afternoon, it almost felt like three! As John McGinn would say…Luuuuuv it!!"
St Johnstone 0-1 Hibs (30 July 2022)
Matteo Zara, Video Producer: “My morning started with an early trip to Perth. I just found out that someone was selling one of my favourite motorbikes over there, so I grabbed a coffee near McDiarmid Park and got to test drive it – a great start to the day.
“In terms of the game, I remember we were wearing our new cabbage kit for the first time and St Johnstone had a man sent off, so we had a good chance. It looked as though it was going to be one of those days – we had lots of chances but just couldn’t score.
“Then in the 90th minute, a perfect delivery from Ewan Henderson from a corner finds Josh Campbell’s head and ends up in the back of the net - the away support explodes. The players start running towards me, I manage to get some great footage of them celebrating just on top of my lens. Everyone is buzzing. The game ends, and I message the guy with the motorbike: "I’m buying it!" What a day."

Livingston 1-4 Hibs (4 March 2023)
Alan Rennie, Club Photographer: "As a club photographer, you always hope that any goal celebration comes towards you to capture the player’s emotion after scoring. I have been lucky enough to have many great celebrations run my way over the season but one I really enjoyed was Elie Youan’s after his second goal. He ran straight towards me and we turned it into a fun gif afterwards on social media.
"It was an emotional afternoon with it being our first game after the passing of Chairman Ron Gordon, with all the squad players wearing 68 on their shorts to pay tribute – an emotional day for the Club marked with a memorable victory."
St Mirren 0-1 Hibs (4 February 2023)
Gavin Rittoo, Club Journalist: "With almost every other game taken, I have gone for a more niche selection – a stuffy 1-0 win away at St Mirren. Trips to Paisley are always eagerly anticipated by the media team, not necessarily for the football – but for the food.
"The pre-match ritual always includes a stop at ‘Buddy Good Food’ – a food van outside the stadium which sells just about everything (at very reasonable prices). Aside from the sausage and tattie scone roll, there wasn’t much to get excited about on the pitch in what looked to be heading for a scrappy 0-0 stalemate.
"Then, just over 10 minutes from time, Elie Youan toe-bashed one in from the edge of the box, to send the away fans delirious. A massive three points and up the road."
