Rudi Molotnikov’s late strike secured all three points for the Dev Squad against Queen’s Park on Tuesday afternoon – extending Steve Kean’s side's unbeaten start to the cinch Reserve League.

Despite the victory, Kean admitted although he was happy with the result, he expected more of his youngsters.

“It was a very good win but in all honesty, it wasn’t a very good performance. We know we are better with the ball than we showed today. I think we got our tactical plan wrong today and we were getting overloaded in midfield.

"We changed that at half-time, and that was a lot better. Then we went to a back three with two wing-backs and two strikers, that gave us an impetus to get a winner which thankfully we did.

"To not play well but to get a result is important for the player’s development. There are tonnes of things we can work on from that game but overall, it was another good result.”

The win extends our lead at the top of the cinch Reserve League to three points – having won four of our first five matches.

“We are getting into that habit of picking up wins and grinding out results”, Kean continued.

“If you don’t play well but you keep a clean sheet then you always have a chance – especially when you have the likes of Ethan Laidlaw, Josh O’Connor and Rudi Molotnikov up-front.

“I felt from the standard we have set this season and we were well off it in terms of performance levels – but we know that is something to work on.”

Up next, the Dev Squad travel to Hamilton Academical on Tuesday 14 March.
