“It was a really bizarre game in terms of scoreline, you can only really talk about the first-half because we ended up going into half-time 4-0 down. I think we had as many chances as Rangers, I thought we were excellent in the first-half for large spells of it. We’ve got to defend our box better, but probably so do they - we had as many chances as they did.

“I think the difference was a clinical team against a team that’s lacking a little bit of belief at times, which again I find strange because we’re the biggest scorers outside the top three in the league. I don’t know what we need to do to get a bit of belief into the girls in these games, when we get chances just to believe in ourselves.

“I don’t really know how to put it into words, we lost the game in the first-half, but I don’t understand how we’re 4-0 down at half-time.”

He added: “I think all of their goals that were avoidable, we took chances today we had to it’s the cup. We played with two strikers and a back three, we tried to play with high-wing backs to go and press them.

“It was working for the first ten minutes, and probably for 45 minutes. But you’ve got to defend better and defend the box better, at the other end you’ve got to do better in their box. In between the boxes, the game was very equal. It sounds stupid but the game was won and lost in both boxes, and they were a lot more clinical than we were.”

On the players' performances today, Gibson said: “You need everyone, Rangers are the league champions. I've got no doubt they’ll put up a good fight to retain that over the next ten games. For us, we need everyone at the top of their game today, and I’d say everyone was apart from two elements but in these games, that’s where you need everyone.

“Benni was excellent in the game, but I think everyone was good. We can’t lose confidence from today’s game. The scoreline looks heavy but the performance was far from a 6-0 defeat.”

He spoke on the upcoming match against Glasgow City:

“We’ve had a hard run with Celtic, Rangers, and City next week but we’re a confident group, we’re confident going into the game that we can take something out of it. We’ve already been successful against City this season, and in the other game we were very competitive.

“There’s nothing to fear with this group of players, it’s just getting small margins right. In the top six, we’re going to have to find that very quickly because we’re going to be up against quality sides over the next couple of months.”
