“The first half left us really disappointed. It’s not often that we get really low-par performances. We defended okay but there was no real quality. I don’t remember us crossing the halfway line too many times when we were in possession - that’s disappointing because that’s the side we are usually okay with. We build well and get into the final third well, but we were never really able to do that in the first half.”

“I thought the second half was a lot better, there were similar problems when we got to the edge of the box, but a frustrating game.”

“Football’s a funny game, out of the last three games that’s probably the worst performance. We looked like a threat at the top end of the pitch last week, we looked like we could score a goal. Playing those sorts of teams back-to-back can be difficult, but unfortunately, we need to go again next week.”

Gibson also had his say on Haaland’s penalty save in the first half.

“We deserved it. I’ll stand corrected but I think she (Chinchilla) went down too easy. I’m not saying she dived – she might have tripped or unintentionally gone down, but there’s a bit of justice for us that it didn’t go in.”

Facing another trip to Cumbernauld – Gibson remained positive about his side’s chances against Rangers next week.

“We’re on a hard run at the moment. It’s not going to get much easier in the split. It doesn’t matter who you play against, it’s going to be a competitive fixture. We’re on a difficult run in terms of our opponents, but I’m sure we can make it more competitive again on Sunday.”
