Reuben McAllister’s first-half strike proved to be the difference between the two sides as the wee Hibees recorded their third victory over Aberdeen this season.
As it happened...
It was the visitors who controlled the early proceedings restricting Hibs’ attacking opportunities to a minimum as the Dons looked for an early opener.
The first piece of action came just after the 10-minute mark and it was Aberdeen who threatened first when Fletcher Boyd fired an effort from range just over the crossbar.
The Dons had another attempt on goal as Dylan Lobban made a driving run towards the Hibs goal letting fly from 20 yards out, however, it was a comfortable save for Freddie Owens in the Hibs goal.

Hibs created their first opportunity of the encounter on the 18-minute mark following a neat ball down the by-line from Rory Whittaker which Josh Landers held up well, using his strength to keep the ball and beat his man on the edge of the box. Josh found Ethan Laidlaw inside the box who managed to turn under pressure before forcing Rodrigo Vitols to parry his attempt away at full stretch.
Hibs would take the momentum from that chance and they took the lead minutes after. Ethan Laidlaw did well to wriggle past a few Dons defenders inside the area before teeing up Reuben McAllister on the edge of the box who fired his first-time effort into the far bottom corner to give the Wee Hibees the lead.

Hibs were soon to create again as Harry Wright latched onto a loose ball in the middle of the park following some slack passing from Aberdeen. Wright played a well-timed ball over the top of the Dons defence to Dean Clelland, who met the outrushing Aberdeen Goalkeeper Rodrigo Vitols who got down in time to push the ball away for a corner.
The visitors had a few chances of their own following that, Fletcher Boyd and Adam Emslie created well, with Boyd’s effort going well over the crossbar from distance. Adam Emslie created the second one twisting and turning before his attempt from a tight angle inside the area forced Freddie Owens to make another good save at his far post.
Hibs had the last notable chance of the half when Ricky Waugh sent in a teasing ball into the box for Dean Clelland however he couldn’t get a proper connection onto his header which sailed wide.
The second 45 was a much quieter affair with both sides cancelling each other out and defending their boxes well.
The first chance of the half came for Hibs came from an Ethan Laidlaw corner. Ethan’s delivery initially missed everyone, however, the ball fell to Harry Wright on the edge of the box but he could only send his effort wide of the far post.
Shortly after that, The Dons were left to rue a great opportunity to net an equaliser. Following a good run on the by-line from Victor Enem, Adam Emslie was then set up in the box who only had Freddie Owens to beat from six yards, but he had to watch his attempt sail wide.

Aberdeen had the majority of the possession and a few chances from then onwards, with Brendan Hamilton’s free kick being too powerful to have any real impact on Freddie Owens in the Hibs goal.
The last chance of the match came when Ethan Laidlaw tested the fingerprints of the Dons goalkeeper from close range but his effort was expertly tipped away from danger.
Despite the visitors having the fair share of the ball in the final third they were unable to find an equaliser and the wee Hibees held on to claim a well-deserved clean sheet and an important three points.
