Daz played 188 times for the Hibees, scoring eight goals and wrote his name into Hibernian FC folklore playing his part in the legendary 2016 Scottish Cup winning team.
The 37-year-old was given a special mention at the Hibernian FC Player of the Year awards, which was followed by tribute video McGregor’s former teammates and family.
Speaking to Hibs TV on the night, McGregor said:
“I am very emotional, to be honest. I spoke to Ben (Kensell) last week about presenting the match ball against Celtic and saying goodbye to the fans. That was special and I thought that was the send-off, to be honest.
“So to get called up on stage at the Player of the Awards and to watch that video from all my former teammates was really special.
“I am so honoured and happy to be a part of this Football Club. I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey which I never even dreamed of when I was working in a shop in my mid-twenties.”

“The highest recognition you can get is from your peer group – the people that you’ve played with and you have that mutual respect.
“For them to say such kind words about me means a lot and then to have my family in there too just topped it off.
“Ultimately, as a husband and a dad, you just want to make your kids proud, so for them to have those memories of me playing means a lot. The whole video was very emotional and caught me off guard if I am honest.
A Hibee through and through, McGregor has now taken up the role of U18 Head Coach and is eagerly looking forward to the next chapter of his career.
"I am super excited about this next step, I am going to give it everything. I think I had a great internship learning from Steve and Gareth in my first year with the Development Squad.
"Now, I am looking to kick on, use people around the building to learn from and use this experience to work hard and absorb as much information as I can. Ultimately, you never know what is around the corner – so if you work hard, the harder you work – the luckier you get."
