The Hibees used the match as an opportunity to give important minutes to several members of the First Team squad with Max Boruc, Riley Harbottle, Dylan Levitt, Jair Tavares, Allan Delferrière and Josh Campbell all included in the starting XI.

But ‘Boozy’ was particularly impressed with the youngsters in his team, with teenagers Rudi Molotnikov and Josh Landers grabbing the goals that sealed the victory.

Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk after the match, Boozy shared his thoughts on the performance and what he thinks the players got out of the game.

“It was a good exercise, it was a mixture of First Team players and some youngsters, so it was a beneficial game for everyone. The First Team staff were involved in those decisions, which was good and we found a good bond between the Development Squad, the U18s and the First Team.

“The result was good, the performance was good in difficult conditions. A lot of the time the U18s and Dev Squad don’t train much on the grass, so having the match on the grass today was great for them too.

“The important thing is that we are trying to replicate what the First Team are doing so that when they step up into the First Team they know exactly what is required of them. It is a great experience for them today to play with the older lads.”

Chances were few and far between in the first half, but Josh Landers opened the scoring just before the break – before Molotnikov added a second in the closing stages of the second half.

“Josh’s goal is the type of goal that he scores all the time with the U18s. He found the space and then has that desire to head straight towards the goal, it is good to see him doing that and scoring goals at a higher level now.

“We had a couple of chances in the second half, we could’ve scored a few more as well but I thought we did well to limit them in attacking areas.

“Rudi got on the scoresheet as well – another U18 player – so from a coach's point of view it was a perfect day for us.”
