Darren McGregor’s side - who played the majority of the game with 10 men - came from behind twice in the first half, before netting a third minutes into the second half, however Motherwell found a late equaliser late on.

First half

The first 45 was a competitive encounter, both sides took a while to get going however, the game came into life after that.

The first opportunity of the game would fall for the visitors and Motherwell took full advantage of that.

A low-driven strike from a 'Well player on the edge of the area found the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead after 15 minutes.

Hibs would waste absolutely no time in levelling the game and netted with their first opportunity of the match.

Josh Landers beat his man with ease in the middle of the park before being allowed room to let fly from around 25 yards out, Landers’ excellently struck effort found the top corner, leaving the Motherwell keeper with no chance.

Hibs threatened again when Rudi Molotnikov’s effort from Reuben McAllister’s free-kick was pushed away by the Motherwell goalkeeper and out for a corner, however, the resulting corner didn’t result in anything of note.

On the 40th minute mark Motherwell were awarded a spot kick after Joseph McGrath was penalised and shown a straight red for a push on a 'Well attacker, with the referee claiming that the challenge prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity. Motherwell made no mistake with the header and took a 2-1 lead.

Hibs would instantly go up the park and have a chance of their own when Reuben McAllister’s free-kick from the edge of the box was saved by the Motherwell's keeper.

The wee Hibees were awarded another free kick moments after that, Reuben McAllister delivered a pinpoint cross to the back post where Owen Hastie would rise highest to head home yet another quickfire equaliser.

Second half

The quality of the game would drop in the second half with the rainy conditions playing a part in proceedings - making it a tricky contest for both sides.

Despite that, Hibs took the lead only minutes into the restart, Josh Landers latched onto a loose ball in the box before holding off a 'Well defender and finishing beyond the keeper.

Neither team managed to create many chances, however, Hibs would come close when Dean Cleland had an effort from range well saved.

Despite The wee Hibees controlling large spells of the half it was Motherwell who found an equaliser on the 85th-minute mark after a well-worked move down the right-hand side, which ended in a third goal.

The last chance of a very intriguing game came when Josh Landers’ volley from a tight angle at the back post flew just over the bar.

The wee Hibees will feel frustrated to not have picked up all three points, especially having played the majority of the match with 10 men.
