Usually a regular in the Socceroos’ Under-23s side, the right-back’s blistering start to the season caught the attention of their senior boss Graham Arnold.

He will now be joining up with fellow Hibee Martin Boyle for the October international break as they take on England and New Zealand down in London.

“It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time but it’s down to your run of form,” he admitted.

“I’ve been doing well in the last few weeks and getting regular game-time, which is a big thing for Graham Arnold. It’s all about playing and gaining experience.

“At my age, it’s also crucial for my development. I’m honoured to play for the Socceroos."

But how did the call happen? Well, it was actually his Hibs teammate Martin Boyle who alerted him to a message on his phone…

“We were at training and Boyler actually took my phone and said, ‘look you’ve got a message’. It was a message from Graham Arnold who said he wanted to have a quick chat.

“I called him and he said ‘do you want to be a Socceroo?’. It’s a childhood dream. It’s a great honour to play for your nation, I’m buzzing, and hopefully I can stay in the squad.”

Miller has now joined up with the Socceroos and is hoping to make his debut this Friday night as they take on England at Wembley Stadium.

“It’s a great opposition and the Socceroos have been playing magnificently in the past few tournaments and friendlies. Hopefully, I can fit in with the team and get the best result for my country.”
