Second half goals from Le Fondre and Doidge rounded off a fantastic team performance, as we ran out 2-0 winners over Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Le Fondre was full of praise for the teammate’s overall effort and work rate throughout the 90 minutes.

“The team performance today was outstanding and I thought we were thoroughly deserving of the three points this afternoon.

“Aberdeen are a good team and they had a lot of the ball – but I thought we were really good in our defensive structure and tried to counter them.

“We have shown that when we are solid at the back as a group, we will create chances and we will score goals. It is good to be going into the international break off the back of a good win and it gives us a good building block to build on going forward.”

With the match finely poised at 0-0, both Le Fondre and Christian Doidge came on for the final 20 minutes and made a huge impact.

“As the game started to get stretched me and Doidgey came on and managed to pick them off a little bit more on the break.

“Dave just told me to go have some fun and do what I do.”

Le Fondre netted the opener with a brilliantly struck volley – his third goal in four league matches.

“Joe laid it off to me and I have swung my left foot at it. As soon as I hit it I knew it was going straight it. On my left foot - I am a little bit more inconsistent, compared to my right, but when you catch it sweet you always have a chance.

“Overall, we are really pleased as a group that we can go into the international break off the back of a great result."
