Guillaume Beuzelin’s side reached the Third Round of the competition following victories over Formartine United and Brechin City in the opening two rounds.
The Dev Squad beat Formartine United on penalties before dispatching Brechin City 4-0 thanks to goals from Rudi Molotnikov, Kanayo Megwa and Alfie Smith (x2).
That set up a Third Round clash with Welsh side – The New Saints – who are one of four cross-border teams that enter the competition at this stage.
THE NEW SAINTS
The New Saints play their football in the Cymru Premier – the top tier of Welsh Football, and currently sit top of the table with a two-point lead.
The Welsh side come into this one in fine form, having won four of their first five matches in the league.
This is the first time appearance for The New Saints in the SPFL Trust Trophy in four years, however, the Welsh outfit has previously reached the semi-finals Semi-Final stage in both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
Managed by Craig Harrison, The New Saints have had a busy start to the 2023/24 campaign competing in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds.
