Women's First Team

“I’m very pleased to be signing a new deal. I’m grateful to the club for putting their faith in me, and now I’m reaping the rewards for all the hard work that I’ve put in over the past 15 months. I can’t wait to see where this club can go.”
“It was a challenge at points last season, but I’ve come out of it as a better person and a better player. Hopefully, across the next two years we can really push on as a team. I think you can already see us doing that.”

The defender also highlighted the importance that other players had on her development as a professional.
“Leah Eddie and all the others are great to play alongside. We bounce off great together and we’re always willing to learn from each other. It’s a cliché but there’s a real family feel around the club right now.
“Joelle and Siobhan are unbelievable people and unbelievable characters. There are four centre-backs that all want to play but Joelle and Shiv have been great since the start of the season. You know you can ask them for anything. That’s what the club is about, and the sort of people they are.”
Additionally, Lawson spoke of the positive atmosphere brought by Grant Scott since his return as manager in the summer.
“He knows exactly what the club needs and also what the players need. The way he manages people is more than anyone can ask for. He’s been really great. “

On an individual note, she believes her new contract will allow her to better focus on achieving some of her personal goals.
“I want to get more appearances for the team. It’s also about becoming a better person and a better player. There’s no better club to do this. I want to see where the next two years get me.”
Looking towards more mouth-watering clashes in the future, Lawson insisted the fans had a part to play in her development.
“When I first came, I didn’t really expect the big moments like we had at Tynecastle a week ago, where the atmosphere was unreal. The atmosphere the fans bring is like no other. I’m waiting for the next derby and hopefully, we can smash the attendance record at Easter Road like we did last year.”
