Nick Montgomery revealed that Josh Campbell could make a return to the matchday squad this weekend against St Johnstone.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been on the sidelines since the end of December after sustaining an ankle injury in the Edinburgh derby.

Working closely with the Club’s physios and sports scientists, Josh has now returned to full team training and is edging ever closer to a return.

“Josh has been training for the last couple of weeks,” said our Head Coach.

“The medical staff have worked really hard just like they did with Chris Cadden and other players who have been out for a long time. It’s important that when players are reinterrogated back into First Team training that they are ready to be considered for selection.

“Everyone knows Josh is honest and a fantastic athlete, so in terms of fitness that’s not something he really misses, it’s more getting him back into the team training sessions. He will definitely be considered.”

Jake Doyle-Hayes has been back in elements of First Team training, whilst Luke Amos, Lewis Miller, and Dylan Vente are working their way up to full fitness.

“These players are important players for us. It always seems like we get two back and then lose two. They’re all important players.

“They’re progressing really well and working really hard. It’s important we don’t rush them back. When they do come back they’ll make a real difference to the squad.”
