Our Wee Hibees fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders Kilmarnock at HTC on Friday night.

All Killie’s goals came in the second half against a Hibs side who had been down to 10-men after Rory Whittaker saw red.

Hibs controlled the majority of the first half, enjoying more of the ball and creating a few chances of their own whilst limiting Killie to pretty much no goalmouth action.

The first chance of the contest came when Owen Calder played a good ball into the box which found Rudi Molotnikov, but unfortunately his effort was saved comfortably from close range by the Kilmarnock goalkeeper.

Hibs were pressing well and pushing to create more as Rory Whittaker and Rudi Molotnikov proved to be a nuisance for Kilmarnock. Whittaker delivered a perfect ball into the box, but Molotnikov’s header from six-yards out flew over the bar.

It was an uphill challenge, though, after the 30 minute mark as Whittaker was shown a red card for an off the ball incident.

Despite being down to 10, Hibs still created the best chances of the first half, again through Molotnikov. The attacking midfielder had an effort saved well by the feet of the Killie ‘keeper in the box.

Kilmarnock took control of the game in the second half and scored within three minutes through a stunning long range strike from Ethan Mercy.

A header from six yards out and another fine long range strike would ensure Killie came away from HTC with all three points.
